Sometimes when I paint I know I will not forget the experience!! This was one of those paintings.

I do a lot of paintings, but I am never sure when I start if I can pull it off.  As soon as my pastel hits the paper I know whether it is going to work or not. When it works the painting comes alive…inch by inch.

When I painted the Artichoke, I didn’t move all over the paper at one time.  I painted each petal until it was finished and moved on to the next.  As soon as I finished the first petal, the painting started coming off the page.  With each petal more life was breathed into the painting.  I felt like I could reach out and pluck the Artichoke right off the page!

I love when that happens!

With every painting, I make memories of how I was feeling…exhilaration, excitement, nostalgia…etc.  This Artichoke gave me exhiliration!

I am so thankful to have these experiences with my art.  That is the reason I paint!

Smiles!!
